Today over 50 million women (75%) in the U.S. alone color their hair regularly and many more say they will once they start to turn gray. What many don’t realize is that both professional in-salon haircolor and they box color they use at home is loaded with ammonia and other chemicals that can lead to allergic reactions, respiratory disorders and even cancer.
When Susan Henry was shocked by her diagnosis of ammonia poisoning after a lifetime of exposure as a sought after Beverly Hills stylist, she looked for safer, more natural alternatives to get lasting color results without all the unnecessary chemicals. The trick is that there is no such thing as a “chemical free” natural haircolor as coloring hair itself is a chemical reaction. Susan Henry’s Natural Color Process is a careful balance between everything natural and the minimal amount of chemistry needed to give you flawless results time after time…and never, ever any damage or health risk.
Information about PTD & PPD
Our formula is free of PTD (Paratoluenediamine), an aniline dye that is commonly used in hair color pigments and is derived from petroleum products. PPD also known as Para-Phenylenediamine is another dye commonly used in hair color pigments but is necessary to ensure proper gray coverage and is contained in our Susan Henry Natural Color Process dark shades in trace amounts of 0.05%. If you are allergy prone or have had reactions to hair dyes in the past, consult your doctor first. Unfortunately at this time there is no such thing as 100% organic, hypoallergenic permanent haircolor…but science is always improving. If you questions regarding certain ingredients, by all means contact us!
